Vegetarians and vegans will enjoy the latest gastronomic initiative launched by Torremolinos town hall. Ruta del Tapa Vegana will be held in a selection of the town's restaurants and bars on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September. This is the first edition of ... the vegan tapas route and it is designed to promote the gastronomic culture of Torremolinos, while also boosting the hospitality sector, which has suffered from the devastating economic situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Nine establishments will participate in the event and each will create a series of unique tapas that are 100 per cent vegan. These include Restaurant La Tierra, Pizzeria Palette, The Wala Room, Vegetarian Spike, Restaurant La Ponderosa, Taj Grill Indian and Mexican Restaurant, Espiga Vegetariano and La Real Vegana, so the selection of tapas will be wide and varied.
The venues will also present small cultural activities, including micro theatre, magic shows and light entertainment.
Customers are invited to vote for their favourite tapa by uploading a photograph on the town hall's Facebook and Instagram pages. All photographs will be entered into a prize draw with prizes of lunch or dinner at any of the participating establishments.
Councillor for Culture David Tejeiro said, "This route will not leave anyone disappointed and will undoubtedly be an opportunity to enjoy and discover a cuisine still unknown to many: a cuisine and lifestyle respectful of animal life and nature in general."
