Torremolinos welcomes summer with a weekend of music

The Amber Plaza Club will kick off its summer series of live music events with a two-day legends festival and 80s pool party

The Amber Plaza Club in La Carihuela, Torremolinos, will host The Festival of Legends on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July. The live music and celebration venue - situated opposite the Hotel Pez Espada - will kick off its summer series of live music events with a two-day festival dedicated to the music of the 1950s through to the 1980s. The main event takes place on Saturday from 9pm, when vocalist Mark Connors presents his tribute to two grand legends: Frank Sinatra and Elvis.

Music of the rock and roll era will be supplied by a video DJ, while Costa favourite Chris King will offer a mixture of swing, pop and rhythm and blues.

On Sunday, fans of ska and reggae can enjoy the 80s Pool Party, which the organisers hope to make a weekly event. The party will get going at 5.30pm, when the Skafienados will perform classic hits of 80s ska bands like Madness, The Specials and Selector. The Fuengirola-based group will also perform songs of reggae legends Bob Marley, UB40 and Toots and the Maytals.

The afternoon will be hosted by Chris King, who will be spinning a non-stop flow of hits from the 1980s between acts.

In order to adhere to the current health and safety legislations seating will be limited, so advance booking is advisable.

Entrance for each day is ten euros and tickets can be purchased from the venue on 951 136 519, or from Rubens Exchange.
