For the first time since the pandemic, high-level boxing will return to the Costa del Sol next month as Holiday World Resort in Benalmádena plays host to eight fights, featuring 16 professionals.

On Saturday 5 August, the main fighter will be double Spanish lightweight and super lightweight champion Samuel Molina (25 wins, three defeats), from Malaga.

After just missing out on in Paris at the European Championship, he will fight Ignacio Mendoza (44 wins, 14 losses, three draws) in the welterweight category. The Vitoria-based fighter is a veteran of Spanish boxing who has been Spanish super lightweight champion several times.

The semi-feature bout will be the rematch between Ayoub Elfahmi (7-1-0) and Christopher Mena (4-6-3) in the middleweight eight-rounder. In the first clash Ayoub won in a very even fight.

Before that, in the super middleweight (eight rounds) the current national super middleweight champion, José Luis Navarro (8-1) will face the former Spanish champion José Manuel L. Clavero (16-21-1) in six rounds.

One category below, the middle, is where Almeria-born prospect Álvaro Godoy (3-1-0) will face Russian fighter Artemio Garibian (4-0-0).

At middleweight, and over six rounds, Latvian fighter Jevgenijs Aleksejevs (13-0-0) will face Frenchman Dimitri Trenel (9-3-0). Both will be boxing in Spain for the first time.

Light heavyweight Constantin Nangas (9-0-0), who has fought in Malaga before, will face Nicaraguan Roberto Arriaza (19-7-0).

And to round off this feast of boxing, there will be a local debutant: one of Malaga's up-and-coming boxing talents, Rubén Gil. Characterised by his speed and footwork, the aspiring star will face Kevin Traña (15-7-0) at featherweight across four rounds.

The beach club facilities, which can host more than 1,300 people, will put on an evening of wide-ranging entertainment.
