This Monday, 1 November, is a national public holiday in Spain because it is All Saints' Day.
But among the sectors that will have to work is that of commerce, since in Malaga and on the Costa del Sol many shops and shopping centres will ... raise the shutters for customers as it is one of the holiday dates authorised for trade by the Junta de Andalucía this year.
The shopping centres that will be fully open and operating normal hours are Miramar (Fuengirola), La Trocha (Coín), La Cañada (Marbella), Puerto Marina Shopping in Benalmádena, La Verónica (Antequera), El Corte Inglés (Marbella and Mijas), Rincón de la Victoria, the CostasolCentro Shopping Centre (Torremolinos) and El Ingenio (Vélez-Málaga).
In Malaga city, on 1 November, Muelle Uno, the Rosaleda, Larios Centro, Málaga Plaza, Vialia Málaga-María Zambrano Station, Plaza Mayor, Los Patios and Málaga Nostrum shopping centres will also be open. Added to these are the large stores such as El Corte Inglés, Leroy Merlin, Verdecora and those located in the Bahía Azul retail park (including Ikea and Conforama among others).
Small businesses are free to decide whether to open on this extra trading day, since establishments of less than 300 metres can also open if they wish.
In total, this year in Malaga the commerce sector will be able to work a total of 14 holidays (two more than in 2020, as approved by the Junta) and the next one in when the shutters will be raised again will be on 8 December, the Immaculate Conception public holiday.
