Woman dies in a fire at her home in Fuengirola

A new tragedy rocked Fuengirola at noon, this Thursday 16 March. SUR has been able to confirm that a woman in her 70s died due to a fire at her own home. The incident happened at a block of flats with entrances on Calle Colón and Avenida Ramón y Cajal.

Firefighters received the alert about the fire at 11.56am. However, when they arrived at the scene, they found the lifeless body of the woman inside the property. Assisted by the Local Police, they cordoned off the area until they controlled and tried to put out the fire, which is now extinguished.

Fuengirola town hall issued a statement saying it regrets the loss of life of the resident of the town, and feels the pain of those closest to her. It has decided to decree an official day of mourning, which will begin on Friday at 12 noon.
