The appearance of a vulture in the Los Boliches area of Fuengirola, caused a stir among the residents and tourists at the weekend, who did not expect to see such a big bird so close to the coast. The initial alert came from the residents of the Stella Maris apartment block of tourist accommodation on the seafront. When they went out onto their balcony they found the vulture perched on the railing of their terrace.
Far from being frightened, the occupants of the flat recorded a video which is now circulating on social media networks, generating all kinds of comments.
However, the bird actually spent much of yesterday (Sunday 17 March) flitting between different areas of Los Boliches, and there were many residents who took photos and recorded videos of it. Some alerted the Local Police in Fuengirola, and they in turn alerted the Seprona nature protection branch of the Guardia Civil, which deals with such incidents.
In the end, it was not necessary for the officers to intervene, as it appears the animal was simply tired and decided to stop and rest for a few hours before continuing its journey.
