Alcaucín town hall has introduced bans on using drinking water for gardens, filling swimming pools and agricultural use due to the drought risk in the Axarquía.

In a written statement signed by the mayor, Ágata González, the town hall has warned of fines for people who do not comply with the ban.

"We must control consumption rigorously," the statement said, in a call for "responsibility due to the drought". Although the town hall has brought in similar bans in previous years, this is the first time that it has introduced fines.
