Malaga's famous Christmas light tunnel to move to Liverpool

The new-look Alameda central avenue could instead be the focal point of this year's festivities

It quickly became one of the biggest attractions of the city. Visitors came from far and wide to admire the Christmas light show on Malaga's Calle Larios during the last three years but this time, the city's Events councillor Teresa Porras must find a new spectacle.

Operator Iluminaciones Ximénez has sold the famous tunnel of light and it will move to Liverpool where it will become part of this year's festive display.

"We have a small surprise prepared," said Porras last week but wouldn't reveal yet what it was.

This year, however, with the works to regenerate the central Alameda set to be complete in time for December, the celebrations could have a different focal point altogether.
