Foul play suspected as second Costa chiringuito burns

The authorities say that the Bounty Beach and Playa Padre fires were probably started deliberately but are not connected

Bounty Beach bar on El Pinillo beach in Marbella became the second 'chiringuito' to burn down in the town in eight days on Tuesday. Speaking this week, the government delegate in Malaga, María Gámez, said that both this fire and last week's Playa Padre blaze were thought to have been started deliberately but no link between the two cases had been found.

This Tuesday's fire destroyed the covered terrace area of the Bounty Beach bar and restaurant, but the fast action of firefighters prevented further damage.

On Monday last week Playa Padre, the bar and restaurant owned by Global Gift founder María Bravo, was burned down on nearby El Cable beach.

Both establishments were closed for the winter season and planned to open again at Easter.
