Plans for Torremolinos train station revealed as works go out to tender

The town hall has criticised Renfe's plans, saying the new location conflicts with “commercial and cultural activities” in the square

Torremolinos town hall has received official notice of plans to transform the town's Cercanías station located in the central Plaza de la Nogalera.

Renfe, the national railway company which operates the line which runs from Fuengirola to Malaga, has put the 7.5-million- ... euro project out to tender.

However, the first deputy mayor, Maribel Tocón (PSOE) has expressed her party's concerns about the new location which she says is in conflict with the commercial and cultural activities that take place in the square.

The planned works move the entrance from its current spot primarily to increase accessibility. New lifts will be installed to create step-free access to the platforms which will be widened and have new lighting and information boards for the visually impaired installed.
