Just two days before King Felipe VI of Spain was celebrating five years on the throne in Madrid, he was in England, parading through the grounds of Windsor Castle, dressed in all the finery of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.
The Spanish royal was invested as a Knight of the Garter, the most senior order of knighthood in the British honours system, along with King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and other new members in the Garter Throne Room of Windsor Castle on Monday morning.
After lunch, the kings joined the ceremonial parade behind Princess Anne and Princes Andrew, Edward, Charles and William towards St George's chapel.
King Felipe was accompanied in London by Queen Letizia, who watched the proceedings with Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cambridge.
On Wednesday it was Felipe's turn to do the hosting, as he celebrated the fifth anniversary of his reign. He awarded the Order of Civil Merit to 41 "anonymous Spaniards" for their human values and social commitment.
Among them was Raquel Serrano of Alhaurín de la Torre, the creator of FIIXIT, a firm that produces orthopaedic braces using 3D printing.
